Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 520

Two in the morning, Graceline Technologies.

The entire building was empty, except for the lights that were still on in the laboratory.

Grace was staring intently at a slide under a microscope.

Ever since her grandmother's funeral, she had thrown herself completely into her work.

It was her way of trying to channel the grief in her heart.

"The data's wrong..."

She frowned, murmuring to herself as she reached for the notebook beside her.

A slender hand got there first, pressing down on the notebook.

Grace froze for a second, then looked up to see Damien standing beside her.

He was holding an insulated flask, and his eyes held a hint of displeasure.

"Look at the time."

Seeing the bloodshot veins in her eyes, Damien couldn't bring himself to scold her. He sighed, using his other hand to remove her goggles. "Ms. Hart, even robots need to recharge, don't they?"

"I'm not tired."

Grace avoided his gaze and moved around him to grab the notebook. "This experiment is at a critical stage, I can't stop..."

As she spoke, her stomach rumbled in protest.

Grace's face flushed instantly.

Damien chuckled softly and took her hand, leading her to the break room outside. Only then did he say with concern, "If your grandmother knew you were running yourself into the ground like this, she would be heartbroken."

At the mention of her grandmother, Grace's eyelashes trembled.

"Here," Damien said, opening the flask and pouring a small bowl of chicken soup, which he brought to her lips. "Have a sip."

Grace obediently opened her mouth.

"Do you think..." Grace said, looking down at the soup in the bowl, "that I failed her? Did I let her down?"

"Who said that?"

Damien put the bowl down and sat her in a chair. "Grace, what you're doing is changing the world. How could that be called useless?"

"Besides, your grandmother never cared about any of that. She only wanted you to be happy."

Grace looked at him, and the grief she had been suppressing for half a month finally spilled over, turning into tears that rolled down her cheeks.
