My ex husband wants me back (Daven and Althea) novel Chapter 813

Before sunrise the next morning, the campsite was still immersed in silence.

The mountain air felt much colder than it had the previous night. A thin mist hung low among the pine trees while the sky was still filled with stars that had yet to be replaced by the morning light. In the distance, the sound of the river flowed gently, becoming the only sound accompanying a morning that was still too early to truly begin.

Lydia woke up slowly.

For a few moments, she kept her eyes closed, enjoying the remnants of sleep that had not yet completely faded. But when her hand moved to the other side of the bed beside her, she found no one there.

Her brow immediately furrowed. The lingering coolness on the blanket told her that Cale had been awake for quite some time.

With quiet steps, Lydia left the tent. It didn't take long for her to find her husband.

Cale was sitting alone not far away. He was wearing a thick jacket, with both hands resting on his knees. His gaze was fixed on the night sky that still stretched wide above them.

Lydia followed the direction of his gaze.

The stars were exceptionally clear that morning. Far more numerous than what they could usually see from Sun City or Carrington Bay.

The woman walked over and sat beside him without saying anything. Cale, who knew his wife was awake and keeping him company now, only glanced at her briefly before returning his attention to the sky.

Several moments passed before Lydia finally asked, "Why are you already awake?"

Cale didn't answer immediately. His gaze remained fixed on the sky.

"Is there something on your mind?"

Cale let out a soft laugh. "What can I possibly hide from you?" He turned and looked at Lydia with a gentle gaze. "I want to take Naomi to watch the sunrise. Would you... mind giving your permission?"

Lydia fell silent.

Many people rarely understood the way Cale Miller behaved. They only saw a man who always appeared calm, cold, and difficult to read. But Lydia knew him far better than anyone else.

That was why she knew this wasn't about anything her husband had ever said to Naomi. It wasn't about the past that surrounded the girl. There was something much simpler and much more important.

Cale was worried.

Perhaps in her husband's eyes, he had never truly stopped seeing Naomi as the little girl who had disappeared from his life years ago.
