She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 674

Zelie wasn't the least bit fazed. She let go of her seatbelt, practically bouncing with excitement. "Amazing! My little girl is amazing!"

Loyce had just smiled when her phone buzzed through the car's Bluetooth. It was her lead bodyguard. "Ms. Lonsdale! Three identical vehicles just merged into our convoy! They're mimicking our movements. Watch out!"

The warning was like a bucket of ice water, instantly killing the lighthearted mood.

Loyce's eyes turned sharp. A quick glance in her side mirrors confirmed it—three black SUVs had slipped into the formation. They were the exact same make and model as her security detail, and their plates were perfectly cloned. It was impossible to tell friend from foe.

The red Ferrari was quickly boxed in. The SUVs had limo-tinted windows, hiding the occupants, but the predatory way they moved radiated pure lethal intent.

"Sit back and hold on," Loyce ordered. Her voice was pure ice, a terrifying contrast to the girl who had been laughing just seconds ago.

Almost in sync with her words, the three SUVs surged forward, engines howling. They moved in a synchronized pincer maneuver, trying to crush the Ferrari against the concrete median.

Lucian's aura instantly turned glacial. He noticed the rear window of the SUV on their left crack open just an inch. The unmistakable black barrel of a gun slid out.

"Keep moving," Lucian commanded. "They have guns. This is an execution."

If they were brazen enough to open fire on a crowded highway in broad daylight, they weren't planning on leaving survivors.

Loyce's jaw tightened. She was no stranger to life-or-death situations. Instead of hitting the brakes, she slammed the gas pedal to the floor. The Ferrari's monstrous V8 engine screamed, and like a crimson blur, the car violently threaded the needle between the two lead SUVs a split second before the trap closed!

*Thwip! Thwip!*

The suppressed gunfire was drowned out by the roaring engines and rushing wind, but sparks flew as bullets sparked off the asphalt exactly where the Ferrari had been a second ago.

"Get down!" Lucian yelled, reaching over to shield Loyce with one hand while trying to press Zelie down into the back seat with the other.

But the sudden violence and the sound of gunfire triggered something entirely different in Zelie. Instead of taking cover, she panicked, lunging forward over the center console to throw herself over Loyce.

"My little girl! Protect my little girl!"

Her sudden weight on Loyce's shoulder nearly sent the Ferrari careening into the guardrail. Loyce had to wrench the steering wheel back with brutal force just to keep them on the road.

"Don't worry about me! Protect Zelie!" Loyce shouted, swatting Lucian's hand away so she could focus. She whipped the Ferrari through the dense traffic like a shark through a school of fish. Her lane changes were aggressive and millisecond-perfect, using the sports car's low profile to weave through gaps the bulky SUVs couldn't manage.
