Salute to the General novel Chapter 3559

Within the vastness of Mount Eoncrest, as boundless as the sea, Nathan, weary to the bone, dragged his injured body through the primeval forest.

He couldn't walk fast.

The primeval forest was inherently fraught with danger. Additionally, numerous Gods and elites from the Curia were threading through the forest, hunting him down.

If he was not careful, he might pay the price with his life.

After walking for several hours, Nathan grew tired. He found a towering tree and sat down beneath it. He took out the dry rations and clean water he had scavenged from the Curia elites like Cassius and began to eat slowly.

The dried food was dried venison, which was quite chewy to eat, but it could be tiring.

The only advantage was that it was a filling food.

Suddenly, Nathan's ears picked up a faint, almost imperceptible, unusual sound.

Although the noise was faint, it was distinct from the natural sounds of the forest. It seemed like someone was carefully stepping on the leaves, inadvertently snapping a small, dry twig on the ground, causing a slightly unusual sound.

Nathan continued to eat, his head lowered, but he casually said, “Since you're here, there's no need to sneak around.”

The surroundings fell silent for two seconds before two individuals emerged from the shadows.

These two individuals, one tall and thin, the other robust and strong, were clad in the Curia's Light Holy Armor.

Both of them were the Curia's War Gods of the Light, Otto, and Lukas.

These two individuals had several encounters with Nathan in the past.

Every time Nathan visited the Vatican to meet with Eugene IV, he would always see these two individuals standing by Eugene IV's side.

Seeing them appear here, Nathan wasn't surprised at all.

Right then, Otto and Lukas were still unaware that the collusion between the Curia and the Gods to frame Nathan had been exposed.

At this moment, they were still hoping to deceive Nathan.

With a feigned surprise, Otto exclaimed, “Aha, Mr. Cross, it really is you! I'm so glad to see you're alright.”

Lukas feigned excitement as he said, “Indeed, Mr. Cross, after your incident, Pope Eugene was so worried. He sent quite a few people to inquire about your whereabouts!”

“Mr. Cross, are you alright? How bad are your injuries?”

With faces full of enthusiasm, the two approached, beating around the bush, trying to figure out Nathan's current situation.
