Sir, Madam Dispeared Again After Divorce! novel Chapter 1056

Luke's gaze had been fixed on Sean as she left. Even after she had disappeared outside the door, he remained entranced, not looking away.

Sydney patted him on the shoulder, bringing him back to his senses.

He turned his head back and touched the shoulder she had patted. "What's wrong?"

"I was going to ask you the same thing," Sydney replied, crossing her arms and looking in the direction of the door before fixing her gaze on him. "You were staring at Sean for so long. I called out to you twice, and you didn't even respond."

"Who said I was staring at her? I was just thinking about something," Luke retorted, somewhat agitated.

Sydney rolled her eyes. "Fine, fine. You weren't. But let me tell you something. When you come here in the future, you can't be so mean to her. Sean is my secretary now, and it's inappropriate for you to act like this."

As Sean's current boss, Sydney had to protect her.

She couldn't let Luke bully her secretary.

"Fine, fine." Luke pursed his lips and waved his hand dismissively. "I'll just ignore her from now on, okay? I didn't think I was being mean anyway. Did you see her poker face just now? I haven't even complained about her attitude yet, and you're blaming me."

Sydney's mouth twitched. "You're being a bit unreasonable now. Isn't Sean's attitude towards you the same as it always has been? Strict and rigid, with no change at all. How come after she has been with me for a few months, you can no longer accept it?"

Luke was stunned and found himself at a loss for words.

That was true. The way Sean greeted him was indeed the same as before.

And he had never thought there was anything wrong.

'What am I upset about?"

Luke dropped his eyes and felt an indescribable sense of irritation.

After a moment, he pulled out a chair and sat down before waving his hand again. "Never mind. Let's not talk about this. It's annoying."

Sydney rolled her eyes at him again.

Annoying?

Wasn't it he who kept staring at Sean and then complained about her attitude afterward? Wasn't it also he who insisted on dwelling on it?

So why was he annoyed now?

Then again, Sydney always respected other people's wishes. If Luke didn't want to talk about it, so be it.

Just then, footsteps were heard coming from the door.

An assistant appeared with a tray in her hands and knocked. "Ms. Raines, your coffee is here."

Sydney smiled and nodded. "Come in!"

The assistant responded and walked in with the tray. She placed two cups of coffee in front of Sydney and Luke respectively before turning to leave.

Luke called out to her with a dark look in his eyes. "Wait."

The assistant stopped and turned to look at him. "Is there anything else you need, Mr. Chase?"

"Where is Sean?" Luke asked, turning the coffee cup in front of him. His tone was flat.

Sydney looked at him across the table and waited to hear what he was going to say.

The assistant held the tray against her chest and thought of Sean's instructions before replying, "Ms. Tillman just received a phone call and had some work to take care of. She asked me to bring the coffee in."

Luke said nothing, thoughtfully gazing down at the cup.

The room fell silent.

The assistant stood there, not knowing whether to leave or stay. In the end, she looked at Sydney for instructions.

Sydney rubbed her forehead. Luke's behavior really gave her a headache.

"Luke..." she began, about to speak to defuse the tension.
