Julien didn't refute Luke. Obviously, he believed what Luke said.
Luke reminded Julien of something he hadn't been paying attention to.
Now Julien thought about what Luke said, and he thought Luke had a point.
Julien closed his eyes and calmed himself. When he opened his eyes, his eyes were dark.
Everyone knew Julien didn't want to let it go so easily. He just hid his emotions in the darkness of his eyes.
"I know. I'll take care of this." Julien let go of Sydney's face and responded nonchalantly to Luke.
Luke shrugged his shoulders. "I hope you won't let us down."
Julien didn’t respond. Just as he was about to say something to Sydney, his cell phone rang again.
After he'd hung up the call earlier, he left his cell phone on Sydney's desk.
When his cell phone rang, everybody’s attention was drawn to the phone.
It was Zach. Julien picked up the phone. "What’s up?"
"Mr. Flint," Zach reported, "Mr. McDaniel just called me and said he couldn't reach you. He asked me where you were and if you were busy."
Hearing Zach's words, Julien didn't show any expression on his face.
Apparently, he had expected Erin's father to contact Zach or another assistant after he couldn't reach Julien.
"How did you answer him?" Julien asked in a cold voice with narrowed eyes.
Zach sensed the annoyance in Julien's tone. He hurriedly answered, "I told him I didn't know where you were. I'm just your assistant and I don't know all of your schedule."
Julien responded, "Go on."
Zach continued, "Mr. McDaniel didn't believe me, but he knew he wasn't going to get any information out of me, so he didn't press me further. But he subtly asked me about your reaction and attitude to the rumor."
"Leave him alone." Julien grunted.
Zach pushed up his glasses and replied, "I understand, so I didn't tell him. I told him I didn't know that. Then he hung up unhappily. Mr. Flint, I guess he'll call you again later."
"I know." Julien nodded and responded.
He then glanced across the table at Sydney, who was also looking at him, and said to Zach, "Leave the McDaniel family alone. I'll deal with them later. Deal with the internet troll, the content farms, Brandon, and Dallin first."
"I've sent people to the media outlets and the Squirrel team. Right now, they should be negotiating about the acquisition. I think the acquisition will be done by this afternoon. But what should we do about the employees of the squirl team, except for the secretary named by Ms. Raines?"
"Investigate every one of them. Those who have nothing to do with this matter stay, while all those who are involved or have been involved in fabricating false news are fired." Julien's instructions were clear, and it decided the careers of hundreds of people.
Zach nodded. "Yes. I'll have someone handle all the other media outlets that have been involved in this matter. We'll help their competitors. Right now, they are having turbulence internally. I guess we'll see news that the executives of these media outlets will be replaced tomorrow. Also, we've gathered enough evidence against those content farms. The legal department will sue them. I expect the judge will fine them so hard that they will be fined all the money they made before. As for the internet troll, I was going to report them to the cyber police department. However, after I contacted the cyber police, I found out that someone had already reported it and that their organization was disbanded. Mr. Flint, who do you think it was?" Zach wondered.
Julien narrowed his eyes and said, his face grim, "Hunter, he's the only one capable of doing that."
Sydney was surprised.
'Hunter? How did Julien come up with him?'
On the other end of the line, Zach gave a slap on his forehead. Realization dawned on him. “How did I forget about Mr. Cohen? Mr. Cohen's been out in the countryside for almost two months. He keeps such close attention to the trending news. He really is an admirable governor."
