"Mr. Braun once turned down Julien's offer," Sydney reminded.
Officer Miles remembered. "Yup. That's what we're talking about."
"Actually, I have a question." Sydney frowned.
Officer Miles gestured for her to continue. "Ms. Raines, what's the question?"
"I'm confused. You guys said that Reginald is a crappy lawyer, but from what you said, he's won almost every case he's represented in, except for the ones he's lost on purpose. That's because his employer offended him and he lost on purpose. He's a good lawyer, isn't he? Why do you say he's a crappy lawyer?"
Officer Miles didn't answer the question right away but looked at Julien.
Julien nodded at him. Then Miles explained, "Since Mr. Flint allowed me to tell it, I'll be honest. It is simple. Although Reginald majored in law and he is licensed to practice law, he is not skilled in the law. He is not as well versed in the terms of the law as other lawyers, but he is an excellent debater."
"Really?" Sydney raised her eyebrows.
Officer Miles smiled. "When Reginald goes to court to represent a case, he doesn't argue like other lawyers do using the expertise of a lawyer, but instead he uses techniques to provoke the other side to say or do something they are not supposed to. And then he'll win the lawsuit. He's like one of those sales champions."
"I see." Sydney clapped her hands. "He's a lawyer, but he doesn't fight the lawsuit in an unusual way but uses some tricks. Is it like that?"
"Yes." Officer Miles responded.
Sydney nodded. "Even though he doesn't excel in the legal profession, he's good at lawsuits. Sounds like he's a genius. He's won so many lawsuits. No wonder so many people hire him."
"Aye. I guess Mr. Flint wanted Greta to be sentenced to more years in prison, so he went to Reginald,"Officer Miles looked at Julien when he said this.
Sydney turned to Julien as well.
Julien curled up the corner of his mouth. He didn't say anything. Officer Miles should have guessed right.
That was Julien’s intention.
"Ms. Raines, do you guys want to see Greta? "Officer Miles closed his laptop and asked.
Sydney looked at Julien. "Do you want to see her?"
Julien frowned. He stared at Sydney in confusion. "You want me to go see her?"
Sydney rolled her eyes at him. "I'm asking you to see the prisoner, not your ex-girlfriend."
"No, I don't want to go." Julien grunted, "I'm not interested in any other woman but you."
Sydney was touched but amused.
"Fine. Wait here for me, I'll go check on her." Then Sydney stood up.
Julien took her by the wrist and frowned as he asked, "Why are you bothering to go see her? She may hurt you."
Officer Miles stood up as well. He looked at Julien, a wry look in his eyes. "Mr. Flint, she's locked up. She can't hurt Ms. Raines. Don't worry. Ms. Raines won't get hurt."
He believed Julien should have more faith in their security.
Julien knew Sydney wouldn't be hurt by Greta, but he didn't want Sydney to see Greta.
He didn't see the need to see Greta.
