Sydney put down her phone, turned to the manager, and said, "Please pack the dress and suit for me. I'm going to take them."
"Okay." The manager nodded with a smile. She then took the dress and suit and led Sydney to the cashier.
After the clothes were wrapped, the manager handed the bags to Sydney. "Ms. Raines, you only need to pay for the dress and you don't need to pay for the suit."
"Why?" Sydney paused while she was reaching for her credit card.
The manager explained, "The thing is, Mr. Flint has an annual account, and Mr. Flint always sets all his bills at the end of the year."
"Okay." Sydney nodded.
Indeed, many people in the upper class paid their bills in one lump sum at the end of the year.
"All right then. Take my card." Sydney handed her card to the manager.
The manager took the card, but he didn't swipe it right away. He asked, "Mr. Flint called and told me earlier that the bill could all be charged to his account. Would you like..."
"I'll pay for the dress." Sydney knew what the manager was going to say. She shook her head, "The dress is mine. I've used his VIP account. I'm going to pay for it myself."
"I see." The manager smiled and then handed the card to the staff at the cashier.
The manager wondered, 'Aren't they getting married? Why does Ms. Raines insist on paying for her dress herself? The dress is expensive though, it is a piece of cake for Mr. Flint. Why doesn't Ms. Raines let Mr. Flint pay for it?' The manager was confused, but she didn't ask Sydney.
The manager thought it was a private affair, and it would be rude if he asked Sydney about it.
"Ms. Raines, here's your card." The manager handed the credit card back to Sydney.
Sydney took it and responded with a smile, "Okay. Bye."
"Bye." The manager walked Sydney out of the store.
After getting out of the mall, Sydney headed to her car. She was going to go back to Shallow Bay.
She had been in the store for two hours. It was about 5 p.m. and everyone at Skylight should have almost finished their work, so Sydney was going home instead of going to the office.
Julien had called her earlier and told her that he would be back late tonight and that he was going back to Flint Mansion to pick up some stuff after work.
Sydney didn't know what Julien was picking up.
Sydney came to her car, took the car keys out of her purse, and was ready to get in.
Suddenly, a man wearing a mask, a hat, and a black jacket walked near from across her.
Sydney didn't notice anything strange about this man. She thought he was just a passerby, so she didn't pay much attention to him.
However, when the man passed her, he suddenly grabbed the bags from Sydney’s hand.
The bags' handles were fragile and they broke at once.
Both bags fell to the ground and one of the boxes in them hit Sydney's foot. Sydney let out a groan of pain.
Immediately, the man took this opportunity to bend down, picked up the bags, and ran away.
After a few seconds of daze, Sydney regained her senses. She realized that she had been robbed. Despite the pain, she immediately got into her car and chased after the man.
She was shocked to run into such an accident. ‘What a stroke of bad luck!
'Maybe the logos on the bags caught his attention.
'It is a top luxury brand. Whatever was in it, it was worth a lot of money, so it attracted the guy's attention.'
Sydney gripped the steering wheel with both hands and fixed her angry eyes on the man who was running on the sidewalk.
Sydney could only chase him in the traffic lane.
While she was driving, she pulled out her cell phone and called the police.
