'He’s so tempting!'
"Why are you so shy?" Julien didn't know what Sydney was thinking. Seeing her blush, he tried his best to resist the urge to bite her cheek, his eyes misted.
Sydney stared at him, "What do you think? I'm a grown-up, but you still call me a baby. Isn't it embarrassing?"
If she was a teenage girl, maybe she would have liked it when Julien called her baby.
However, now while she felt happy in her heart, she felt a little embarrassed.
Julien chuckled, "What's to be embarrassed about? And so what if you're a grown-up? So am I! I call you baby because I love you. No matter how old you are, even if your hair is gray, you're still my baby."
When he said that, he took her in his arms. "It doesn't matter how old you are. I will always love you, and you will always be my baby. Calling you baby shows how much I cherish you."
Sydney blushed even harder and her heart beat faster.
She was touched. All women want to be their husband's baby. Sydney was happy that she was Julien's baby.
Sydney put her arm around Julien's waist and smiled, "You're so good at making me happy. I'm afraid I'm going to be a stupid woman."
"Then I still love you." Julien ran his fingers through her long hair. "I will always hold your hand. You won't get lost."
"You better keep your word," Sydney said, looking up at him.
Julien nodded, "Of course."
Sydney didn't say anything. She wrapped her arms tighter around his waist.
Julien stroked her hair and kissed it now and then. "Why do you think Mrs. Chase invited us to come over for dinner?"
Julien could understand if Mrs. Chase had invited only Sydney.
But he had been invited too, which confused him.
Sydney closed her eyes and leaned into Julien's arms, "Luke's mom and my mom used to be best friends. Luke’s mom has always been very good to me, just like my own mom, so even though I call her my aunt, she's a mother to me. Now she knows we're back together, so she wants to meet you."
Hearing Sydney's explanation, somehow, Julien tensed up.
Mrs. Chase thought of Sydney as her daughter, so she was his mother-in-law?
"Do I have to meet her?" Julien swallowed, his voice hoarse.
Sydney felt his body tense. She looked at him, "You don't want to see Mrs. Luke?"
"It's not that." Julien shook his head. After a few moments, he explained, "I haven't met your family, so..."
When Julien married Sydney, Sydney's father was still alive.
But Julien had been hypnotized then and he believed that Sydney had been forced to marry him to return his favor, so he didn’t like her, and therefore he disliked Sydney's family. Before they got married, Sydney had suggested he should meet her family, but he refused.
However, he did not expect that he would never see her father.
Julien had never met Sydney's parents. Although he went to the cemetery with her once to pay his respects, he regretted that he had not gone to see Sydney's family before.
And as a result, he hated Lyra more.
If it wasn't for Lyra, Julien and Sydney wouldn't have gone through so much to be together, and Sydney wouldn't have lost her father.
