Julien looked at Sydney, feeling a little tense, thinking, 'Sydney treats Mrs. Chase as her own mother, so she may take what Mrs. Chase said seriously and think that I may indeed be a man who can't control myself while facing an active woman. If that’s the case, Mrs. Chase has caused trouble for me.'
Looking at Julien's obviously nervous look, Sydney knew what he was thinking at the moment. She blinked, then pretended to look at him seriously, and did not answer.
Sydney's silence made Julien's heart begin to sink, "Did you really take it seriously?"
Seeing that he looked more and more nervous and was about to be anxious, Sydney stopped pretending and laughed, "How is it possible? Of course, I didn't take it seriously."
"Then you just..."
"I did it on purpose," Sydney smiled proudly at him, "I pretended to do that to see your reaction. It was very funny to see how nervous you were."
Hearing her mischievous laughter, Julien breathed a sigh of relief, thinking, ‘Luckily, she didn't take those words seriously, but she actually dared to tease me on purpose. She's getting bolder and bolder.’
Julien pressed his thin lips and then scratched her waist.
Sydney was ticklish, so she unconsciously shrank her body and laughed while avoiding his hand, "Julien, what are you doing?"
"I’m punishing you. You actually dared to tease me on purpose." Julien looked at her solemnly and scratched her hand.
Sydney avoided him even more intensely and even screamed, "I'm just kidding. I know you're not that kind of person, so I never take those words seriously, but looking at your expressionless face, I couldn't help deliberately teasing you. I want to know how you will react when you see me taking it seriously. I didn't mean anything else."
"Can you not tease me about this kind of thing? Do you know I have a bad heart?" Julien said with a frown.
Just now, he really thought that she would still think that he couldn’t control himself after they had been together for so long.
It turned out she was just teasing him.
Sydney rolled her eyes at Julien, "Your heart used to be bad, but now your heart is pretty good."
She clicked Julien's chest with one of her fingers, where his heart was.
Julien held her finger, lowered his eyelids to cover the gloom in his eyes, and said lightly, "But you still can't do that."
Looking at his serious expression, Sydney also turned serious, "Don't you like such jokes?"
Julien raised her face and said seriously. "No, I don't like this joke. You will make me wonder if I'm not giving you enough sense of security. Meanwhile, I wonder if I have done something wrong that makes you think that I may be seduced by a woman at any time."
Hearing this, Sydney realized that her joke was out of place, so she apologized quickly, "I’m sorry. I was thoughtless. I won't do that again."
She thought she must admit her mistake and apologize after she knew she was wrong.
Julien rubbed her head. "Good."
"Don't blame Mrs. Chase. She doesn't know you as well as I do, so she said those words. After all, there are too many men like that. She's thinking for me." Sydney looked at Julien with some worry.
She was worried that Julien would be dissatisfied with Mrs. Chase.
However, Julien suddenly chuckled, "Of course I won’t. Since I know she's looking out for you, then why do I blame her?"
Sydney breathed a sigh of relief, "That's good. I was afraid you thought Mrs. Chase was dividing us."
"I might have thought so before I met Mrs. Chase, but I saw her last night and gave her so many gifts. I knew from her attitude to me that she wouldn't do such a thing," Julien rubbed her soft cheek, "So don't think about it."
"Hmm," Sydney nodded with a smile and was completely relieved.
"You are off work?" Julien glanced at the desk next to her.
The desk was tidy now. Obviously, she had finished her work.
