From Sydney's surprised look, Sofia could tell that Sydney was satisfied with the dress. She said with relief, "When Mr. Flint asked me to design it for you, I requested a meeting with you to know your preferences and do better work, but he rejected it."
Sofia looked regretful. "I had to search online and learn more about you from others. This dress is based on multiple modifications, but I was not sure if you would like it and if it would suit you. When I see you, I realize that my concern is unnecessary. It suits you well."
"Why didn't you let Sophia meet with me?" Sydney put down the dress and looked at the man in confusion.
'Sofia is not male. What is the harm of my meeting with her?
'Is he jealous of even an aged woman?
'That's so petty.'
The way she looked at Julien turned scornful.
The corners of Julien's lips twitched as Julien read her mind. "What are you thinking? I just wanted to give you a surprise."
"A surprise?" Sydney arched her eyebrows.
Julien hummed, saying, "I couldn't let you meet with Sofia because I wanted to impress you with the dress. If you guys met, Sofia would ask you about your preferences, and the dress she designed would be less surprising because you already knew what it would look like. A surprise coming at the last second is a real surprise."
"Okay, I misunderstood." Sydney smiled apologetically and said, "But you hid it from me and didn't let me participate in the design. Weren't you afraid that I would not like it, just as Sofia said?"
"No." Julien shook his head and said firmly, "I praised you, and Sofia knew what kind of dress to design. That wouldn't be any problem."
Sydney was embarrassed. "Your compliments."
She recalled those beautiful words Julien had just used to praise her when Sofia's assistant was interpreting for them.
The sense of shame surged in her once again.
"Was I wrong?" Julien shrugged, "Sofia indeed told me that it would be hard to design the dress without seeing you. I told her to follow my descriptions of you and bring out her most beautiful work. So..."
Halfway through his speech, he looked up at Sofia.
Sofia heard the translation from her assistant and nodded with a smile. "Yeah, Mr. Flint didn't let me meet with you, and I didn't know how to design, even though I learned something about you from information online and others. In the end, I contacted Mr. Flint and got some clues. That's the story of the dress."
Sydney glared at the man. "Her most beautiful design? Aren't you afraid I can't handle it?"
"But you can." Julien nodded firmly, "To me, you are worthy of the most beautiful things in the world, so I was not worried that the dress would not suit you. You see."
He looked down at the dress in her hand and continued, "My judgment is time-tested, and the dress suits you well. Compared with blue, red is better for you."
"Really?" Sydney tilted her head and leered at the man.
Julien's Adam's apple bobbed, and he hummed in a hoarse voice, "Yeah, I never lie to you."
"It's true, Ms. Raines. I also think the fiery color is right for you," Sofia chimed in.
Sydney felt sweet and blushed. "In that case, I should buy more red clothes."
"Yeah." Julien nodded, and his dark eyes lit up.
Obviously, he was supportive of it.
