As Amelia's tirade pierced the air, Thalassa’s heart was also twisted in agony.
Leopold's passing was a wound within her that refused to heal.
It was her fault. Guilt over Leopold's death would shadow her for the rest of her life.
"The villa was Leopold’s legacy; please take good care of it." Lysander said to Amelia. His presence was commanding and his voice was a deep rumble. It was a peculiar form of solace.
Returning Leopold’s belongings to Amelia was Lysander’s act of kindness.
Amelia said nothing more. Her sobs punctuated her exit from the hospital room. She had arrived with hope, now dashed, leaving her with boundless disappointment and sorrow.
The doctor, passing Amelia just outside the door, moved toward Thalassa's bedside. He nodded in greeting to Lysander before inquiring about Thalassa’s condition. "How's your appetite? Have you had lunch yet?"
"My appetite’s fine, and I've eaten." Thalassa responded.
"Good, good. Expectant mothers should eat well and get plenty of nutrients. Given your complications, it's even more crucial for you." the doctor advised.
Amelia, just stepping out, froze at the doctor's words. Her crying face turned shocked, and her heart trembled.
What? Thalassa was pregnant?
For how along?
Whose child was she carrying?
Amelia couldn't wait. With a mix of excitement and trepidation, she spun on her heel and charged back into the room, making a beeline for Thalassa's bed.
The doctor was scared at her sudden intensity.
Lysander reacted quickly. He stepped in front of Amelia and blocked her path, trying to prevent any harm to Thalassa.
