David paused from packing his desk. He leaned his body against it with hands firmly planted on the surface. He was fully engaged in a lighthearted conversation with Thalassa on the phone.
"Don't you want to ask why I'm heading to Afriland?"
"Business trip, what else?" Thalassa's tone was casual. "It's not like you're going because of me, right?"
"You hit the nail on the head." David said, a smile playing on his lips despite his impending relocation to Afriland.
"How am I to blame? I'm not even part of your company, and I haven't stirred up any trouble. How on earth did I get you banished to Afriland?" There was an innocence in Thalassa's voice.
"You didn't stir up trouble? The whole Sinclair group was on pins and needles all afternoon. Mr. Sinclair was so livid; he could scare a ghost. Who else but you could get Mr. Sinclair so riled up without getting your hands dirty and still manage to drag others down with you?"
"Are you saying you took the fall for me?" Thalassa asked, then chuckled. "You're giving me too much credit. You have no idea how my mandible was hanging by a thread. You're just going to Afriland, while my mandible is practically in pieces here."
"Well, it's not broken, is it?" David retorted.
Thalassa went speechless.
Well, thanks a bunch, David. You must really be rooting for my chin to snap. Hanging around Lysander has really rubbed off on you. No compassion whatsoever. You've become a real piece of work. She thought.
"Safe travels to Afriland, David. I hope you have the time of your life. Go there pale and come back tanned, and maybe bring back a beautiful lady from there to call your bride." Thalassa quipped before abruptly ending the call.
Now, it was David who went speechless.
Life was rough. Being shipped off to the harsh environment of Afriland by Mr. Sinclair was bad enough, but then he was teased by Thalassa.
