Thalassa was lost in thought when she saw Lysander descending the stairs. He was clad in his lounging pajamas, a sleek grayish-black silk that shimmered subtly under the light, without a single wrinkle to mar its smoothness.
A simple pair of pajamas, yet he wore them with an air of distinction.
His innate aura of command, an effortless nobility, and a relaxed composure made one instinctively wary of crossing him.
Thalassa forced a polite smile, greeting him, "Lysander, you're up. Dinner's ready."
She gestured vaguely toward the dining table with a slight lift of her hand.
She hadn't seen him since he left the master bedroom at noon and had no idea where he had been.
Now, seeing him in his pajamas suggested he had gone to sleep in another room—but why? The only other bedroom upstairs had a broken bed, or so he'd claimed. Was he bluffing her again?
Lysander’s deep gaze swept over her briefly before settling on the table, seeming pleased with the spread. He pulled out a chair and sat down, beckoning Thalassa, "Come, sit."
"Oh, sure," Thalassa snapped back to reality, about to settle the children.
Fitch was quick on the uptake; before she could move, Fitch had already led the children to sit opposite Lysander, arranging their cutlery for them.
With no other option, Thalassa took her place beside Lysander as the server set their tableware.
Lysander picked up his fork and served Thalassa a piece of fish onto her plate, saying, "It's all your favorites. Eat up."
His deep, resonant voice filled her ear.
Startled, Thalassa glanced at him, meeting his eyes, which held a hint of amusement.
She smiled awkwardly in return and began to eat the fish he'd given her. "Alright, I'll have some. Don't forget to eat yourself."
She didn't overthink it. It seemed Lysander had indeed specially prepared these dishes for her.
