Thalassa crept into the kitchen and whipped up a quick dinner. After making sure her mother was fed and comfortably tucked into bed for the night, she retreated to her room and dialed Ethan's number.
"Mr. Ethan, I need to ask for an extended leave of absence," she said when the call connected.
"A long leave? Why? Is it because of what happened today at the client's office? Are you scared? It's all good now; we've dealt with it," Ethan reassured her. He had heard about the incident at the photo shoot.
Susan had been injured and hospitalized, which meant the ad campaign they were working on had to be postponed.
Since Lysander had escorted Thalassa away from the scene, it was clear to Ethan that Lysander didn't blame her for the mishap.
"It's not that. I just need to rest for a bit and clear my mind. Please, Mr. Ethan, just say yes," Thalassa pleaded earnestly.
Understanding that she wished to travel, not out of fear or distress from the day's events, Ethan's tone softened. "Alright, if it's for a bit of fun, I'll grant you the leave. If you're worried about the incident, though, there's no need to back down or fear any repercussions from the company. The doors of Crawley Group are always open to you."
Thalassa's eyes welled up with gratitude at Ethan's words.
Even Ethan, who wasn't particularly close to her, trusted her implicitly. But Lysander, the man who shared her bed every day, doubted her. The bitterness and hurt she felt were likely due to this stark contrast and sense of abandonment.
After hanging up with Ethan, Thalassa had intended to sleep but then thought it necessary to tell Lysander about her travel plans.
His lack of trust was his issue, but whether to tell him about her trip was another matter.
