The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet novel Chapter 1455

Back then, Lysander too had his head wrapped in bandages, lying still on the bed, and eventually he became comatose. The image haunted Thalassa, each memory a weight dragging her heart to the ocean floor, a mixture of heartache and pain.

She couldn't bear to see anyone she cared about end up in a vegetative state—not again.

Hunched over, Thalassa stood by Hertha's bedside, tears swirling in her eyes, her voice laden with guilt. "Hertha, I'm so sorry. I should never have let you drive home alone last night..."

Lydia stepped up beside her, offering a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Thalassa, the doctor said it's a severe concussion. With proper rest, she'll be fine. She won't end up like...well, you know."

Earlier, when Thalassa and Lydia had arrived, they'd checked in at the nurse's station for an update on Hertha. Thankfully, she'd been moved from the ICU to a regular room; the worst was over.

Straightening up, Thalassa wiped away the tears and introduced her friend to Lydia with a quivering voice. "This is Hertha, the one I've told you so much about. We met back in college. She's a wonderful person."

"If she's your friend, she's my friend too. Don't worry, she'll pull through," Lydia reassured her.

In the midst of their conversation, Thalassa's phone rang. She glanced at the screen and saw it was Bridget calling. Excusing herself, she stepped out of the room to take the call.

"Thalassa, why didn't Ms. Kensington come home last night? The kids woke up crying for Mommy this morning, and I had no idea what to tell them. She's never stayed out all night before."

Bridget had put the kids to bed the previous evening, thinking it was late and Hertha would be home soon. But as she lulled the children to sleep, exhaustion took over, and she too drifted off. Morning came all too quickly.
