This time, Alaric was determined not to go back.
With nowhere to stay, he gave his good friend Ethan a call.
Ethan took him in.
Upon learning that he had run away from home with his bank account frozen, Ethan clapped him on the shoulder and said, “How about you come work at my company? I can pay you a salary every month. It won't make you rich, but hey, you won't starve.”
He said it in jest.
“Alright, just set me up with a job, and I'll start tomorrow,” Alaric immediately responded.
“You serious about working at my place?” Ethan was surprised. It was just a joke, but Alaric took it seriously.
Alaric was the scion of the Falconer Group, once a vice president. For someone who had lived in luxury his whole life, was he really ready to settle for a minor position?
“What, you think I was joking?” Alaric asked Ethan seriously.
In Alaric’s eyes, Ethan saw not the flirtatiousness one might expect but a calm, still lake. Ethan knew then that Alaric meant business. As friends, Ethan certainly couldn't let Alaric starve.
“It just so happens we're launching a new jewelry line, and the team's all green. They could use a project manager. You start tomorrow,” Ethan said.
“Aren't you worried about your team taking issue with me parachuting in as manager?” Alaric asked.
“Ha, with the Falconer Group's VP stepping in to manage our little project, who'd complain? They should be thankful I'm not accused of wasting talent,” Ethan quipped.
