The moment Thalassa heard it, her nerves instantly tensed up. Could it be that Hertha was coming with the kids?
If Alaric found out, it would be dangerous.
Thalassa quickly said, "You must be hearing things, none of us heard anything."
"Really? I swear I heard it clear as day," Alaric said. He then stood up and walked towards the exit.
No particular reason, just wanted to check if he was really hallucinating.
Could it be his obsession with Hertha had him hearing things?
He couldn't be that far gone, could he?
Seeing Alaric heading out, Thalassa was about to stop him, but it was too late. He reached the door and leaned out to look.
Thalassa's breath tightened, worried that it really was Hertha.
At that moment, Alaric saw the street outside was empty, not a soul in sight.
Looks like he really was hallucinating.
Alaric shook his head slightly and returned to the diner.
Two minutes later, Hertha poked her head out from behind a wall, peeping towards the restaurant's entrance. Not seeing Alaric, she breathed a sigh of relief.
She had just overheard Alaric's words, scaring her into dragging her kids and parents to hide behind the diner's wall.
Thankfully, they hid in time, and Alaric didn't come any closer. Just one more step, and she and the kids would have been exposed.
