The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet novel Chapter 1579

Her heart was racing, nearly out of control, as she tried to keep her emotions for him in check. Her breath quickened, her cheeks flushed with the heat of intense love, yet the last shred of reason in her mind screamed at her to resist completely falling for him. She clenched her fists so tightly that her nails dug into her skin, using the pain to keep her grounded.

"Talking to me won't change anything. I accepted two hundred thousand from your mother years ago to end all ties with you," she said, her voice calm and devoid of excess emotion.

"Alaric, to a woman like me, every man is just a fleeting fancy. I fell for you at first sight, but then my heart wandered to Eamon, and after that, to Spencer. And now, I've realized I only truly love myself. Do you understand?" Despite the turmoil of feelings for Alaric churning within her like molten lava, she coldly delivered these indifferent words to him.

Part of her restraint was fear—fear of letting Alaric discover she had borne him two children. She knew he could use them to manipulate her, stripping her of her autonomy. Moreover, she couldn't trust Alaric not to fight her for custody. On the other hand, she still hadn't gotten over the shock of seeing Alaric and Georgia in bed together.

Though she knew Alaric had been with many women before, seeing it with her own eyes was a different story. She could accept his past relationships unseen, but the image of Alaric and Georgia together, naked and entwined, was seared into her memory, impossible to forget. Even though Alaric was now estranged from his family, trying to break off his engagement with Georgia, she couldn't bring herself to accept him.

Listening to her, Alaric's charming smile faltered, his expression turning solemn. "So, you're saying you don't like me anymore?"

"Yes, exactly!" she admitted.

"I see," Alaric said, his voice tinged with sadness before he turned and walked away. As she watched Alaric disappear into his house, her clenched fists relaxed, and she exhaled a weary breath. Holding back had been too exhausting.

The moment Alaric turned his back, her heart felt as if it had been hollowed out. A brief wave of loss washed over her, then she smiled. Relieved she had managed to control her impulsive love, yet bitter for falling for someone she shouldn't have.

Looking down, she saw the floor scattered with rose petals, remnants of the vibrant roses that now lay waiting to wither. In love's bloom, the flower symbolizes joy. In its decay, it's just another plant. Acceptance is key, she thought. Grabbing a broom, she swept away the petals.

After breakfast, she got dressed and was about to head out when she opened her door to find Alaric standing there, still holding a bouquet of flowers.

"It's the same bouquet from earlier. I removed the outer, damaged petals and made it into a smaller arrangement. It's for you. Put it in a vase on your dining table; it might brighten up your meals." Alaric handed her the flowers.

She was taken aback.

Alaric said, "Flowers can be rearranged after they wilt, and love can be rekindled after it's lost. None of it is impossible."

Hearing this, her heart skipped a beat.
