Taking a deep breath, she calmed herself down. She forced a smile, the kind you'd reserve for official occasions, straightened her posture, and walked towards Alaric.
Just then, a female employee rushed over, accidentally bumping into her before cutting in front, showering Alaric with compliments. "Mr. Falconer, we've all been eagerly awaiting your visit. You're truly a VIP in our company."
The woman was practically swooning, eagerly extending her hand for a handshake with Alaric.
It was clear as day to any onlooker; she was trying to use work as an excuse for some physical contact. The way she looked at Alaric, her eyes practically sparking with interest.
She stopped in her tracks, no longer moving forward, watching the employee fawn over Alaric. It was like seeing a ghost of her past self.
Alaric, however, completely ignored her, stepping around her to approach.
Seeing him, she managed a professional smile, "Mr. Falconer, welcome to our company for the tour."
Alaric had already been watching her, his smile deepening as he approached and stopped in front of her, looking down at her with a soft look, "It's good to see you again, Designer Hertha."
His words, artfully chosen, informed the earlier flirty employee that his visit was specifically for Hertha.
The employee blinked in surprise, shot a quick, embarrassed glance at Hertha, and quietly moved back into line.
Understanding Alaric's intention, Hertha looked at the employee with sympathy, suppressing the urge to scold Alaric, she smiled wryly, "Mr. Falconer really does seem to have a lot of free time, managing to meet with a busybody like me now and then."
Alaric raised an eyebrow, a playful challenge in his gaze.
Was she suggesting he was intentionally creating opportunities to see her?
He admitted it freely.
