The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet novel Chapter 760

Hertha Kensington's pretty face, radiant with smiles, was right in front of her.

Thalassa exclaimed, "Hertha, you're here too?"

“Yes, I’m at that table over there.” Hertha pointed to the table diagonally across from Thalassa, where several men were sitting. One of them, a greasy, paunchy man with a smug smile on his face, waved at Thalassa.

This sight sent a chill through Thalassa. Then she looked away with her skin prickling.

"Why are they all men?" Thalassa asked, concerned.

Hertha leaned in and whispered, “I’m here to schmooze with our big boss. We’re entertaining a big client tonight. If we land this deal, I’ll get a thousand-dollar year-end bonus.”

Thalassa understood that Hertha was here for work.

“We're having a company dinner.” Thalassa glanced at her colleagues and explained to Hertha.

“Well, you guys enjoy your meal. I should get back to my table,” Hertha said, not wanting to chat further. She nodded politely to the people at her table and returned to her seat.

“Ms. Everhart, is that your friend?” Betty asked.

“Yes, it's quite a coincidence running into her here,” Thalassa replied politely. As she was speaking to Betty, she noticed Jason still staring at her with the same intense gaze.

Feeling uncomfortable under his scrutiny, she decided to make an excuse to leave after a few more bites.

Meanwhile, at the table across the room, the greasy man with the smug smile approached Hertha with a drink in hand. He bent over and leered at her chest, his laughter nauseating, “I heard that Ms. Kensington is not only a skilled jewelry designer but also a formidable drinker. Ms. Kensington, how about a drinking contest? If you can drink me under the table tonight, I'll seal the deal and sign the contract on the spot.”

The man was a typical middle-aged fat cat who grew bolder with a bit of power.

Hertha was nearly sick from his foul breath. She instinctively moved away from him and her lips were twitching in disgust; she could barely resist the urge to kick him away.
