"The coffee you brew is as good as it always was.” He suddenly looked up and rested his deep and affectionate gaze on Thalassa.
Caught in his gentle gaze, Thalassa instinctively looked away to avoid eye contact.
She rested her elbow on her knees, her hands lightly crossed. A hint of a smile tugged on her lips as she said, “Yes, the old way of grinding coffee beans and brewing coffee that I learned at school still works.”
She majored in administrative assistance in college, where brewing coffee was part of the curriculum. She had studied it diligently.
Leopold looked into her eyes, his gaze flickering as if reminiscing about the past.
He then noticed the diamond necklace she was wearing around her neck. He had seen it earlier but hadn't paid much attention. Now his eyes suddenly dimmed as he focused on her necklace, "Nice necklace. Is that a gift from someone?"
Thalassa instinctively looked down at the necklace around her neck and hurriedly tucked the pendant back into her shirt. It had probably fallen out when she bent over.
“Yes, it was a gift from someone.” Thalassa didn’t hide the truth.
Neither of them mentioned who it was from, but they both knew who it was. The name was unsaid but understood.
A heavy, melancholic mist clouded Leopold's eyes.
“Leopold, thank you for explaining to Lysander that I was kidnapped by Charlotte.” Thalassa's professional smile faded; she spoke earnestly to Leopold.
Leopold explained to Lysander that she had been kidnapped by Charlotte, and they wouldn’t have gotten in touch if he didn’t mean to save her. The video Charlotte sent, which suggested she and Leopold had been secretly meeting, wasn’t the truth.
Lysander had blocked her from seeing their kids. She was like a headless chicken who desperately wanted to see her kids but unable to.
“Do you know why I told Lysander the truth?” Leopold suddenly asked.
