Royal Estates.
Thalassa had just tucked the children into bed. She closed the door gently, ensuring their peaceful slumber.
She returned to her master bedroom, shutting the door behind herself before taking out her phone from her pocket. Her eyes fell on Leopold’s contact details and her finger hovered over his number, intending to call him.
Just as she was about to press, she hesitated, her heart teetering on the edge of uncertainty. She wanted to call him to ask how he was doing. At the same time, she feared she might disturb him, or worse, give him the wrong idea.
Was it suitable to make a call in their current relationship? It felt like even showing concern was an unnecessary gesture.
Taking a deep breath, Thalassa ultimately didn't make the call. Just as she was about to put her phone back into her pocket, it rang, its shrill tone jolting her nerves. Seeing Leopold’s name flash across the screen, she hesitated before answering, "Hello?"
"Thalassa, it's me. I'm at the hospital. The doctors have removed the glass shards, and I'm only slightly injured. Don't worry," Leopold's voice sounded a bit weary but strong over the phone.
He didn't sound like he was gravely injured.
Knowing that he was okay, Thalassa’s heart finally relaxed, "That's good to hear. What about the two workers? Were they sent to the hospital with you?"
"Yes," Leopold responded with a single, heavy word.
"How are they doing?" Thalassa asked, holding onto a sliver of hope.
"They didn't make it," Leopold said dully.
Thalassa’s hope sank immediately, replaced by sorrow and sympathy. Those men were someone's sons, husbands, and fathers. Now, two families had to bear the pain of losing their loved ones.
