Thalassa looked at him in surprise, saying, "Lysander, the gifts are truly..."
They were something Mr. Ethan asked her to pick up.
Before she could finish her sentence, Lysander interrupted her with his deep, intense gaze, "Let's go upstairs. Don't just stand there."
Thalassa was taken aback. She glanced at the gifts he was holding, then back at him. He hadn’t handed the gifts to her, but held onto it.
Was he planning on going upstairs with her, gifts and all?
"Maybe you should go home. The kids must be back from school by now, and if they don't see their mother, that's one thing, but if they don't see their father either, they'll worry," Thalassa said to Lysander, not wanting him to come to her house.
Her mother was at home and if she saw Thalassa and Lysander together, she might get her hopes up thinking Lysander was serious about her and might marry her.
Thalassa had accepted the reality and didn't harbor any naive hopes anymore. She also didn't want her mother to have any illusions.
Knowing her mother, if she thought there was hope, she would interfere, causing a whole lot of trouble and awkwardness.
"If knowing they would worry, why did you come here?" Lysander asked, not giving her a chance to refuse. With long strides, he walked towards the building.
Thalassa had no choice but to follow.
"We don't need to bring the gifts," Thalassa said.
"You bought them, so you should have them," Lysander responded.
Thalassa was left speechless.
She had bought three boxes of health supplements, meant as get-well gifts. Now, it seemed she would be the one to benefit from them.
