Just hearing those words, Thalassa could vividly paint the picture of Evelyn's despair and misery in her mind.
Bruce was an absolute monster!
"Alright, there's a pharmacy right at the entrance of the neighborhood. I'll be right back," Thalassa said, her heart boiling with rage against Bruce, though she managed a calm and gentle demeanor for Evelyn.
Evelyn had barely managed to chase away the thoughts of ending it all. She couldn't bring up Bruce again for fear of unsettling her.
Once Thalassa saw Evelyn nod, she stepped out the door.
As Thalassa left, the forced calm on Evelyn's face crumbled, and she let out a heavy sigh of relief. In that moment of utter shame and hopelessness, Evelyn had nearly given in to despair.
But the second she woke up to Thalassa's panicked, tear-streaked face, regret washed over her. She shouldn't have even thought about suicide. The one who deserved to die was Bruce, not her.
If she died, the only people who would hurt were Thalassa and her four little grandchildren. Bruce wouldn't be affected at all.
So, she absolutely couldn't die! She couldn't let Bruce off the hook and let him continue living scot-free!
Thalassa quickly bought the medicine from the pharmacy and hurried home, worried sick that Evelyn might do something foolish again.
Thankfully, Evelyn was in the shower.
Hearing the sound of the shower and seeing Evelyn's silhouette through the frosted glass, Thalassa finally felt a wave of relief wash over her.
Her gaze dropped to her neck where she usually wore a cloud diamond necklace, now conspicuously absent.
She had called Lysander, telling him she'd go back to stay with Evelyn, and had left the necklace back at the Vibrant Oasis Residences.
The necklace had a tracking device, and Thalassa wasn't foolish enough to wear it when she met with Callum.
