Ephraim didn't dare to directly call Everett's mother by her name, referring to her instead as "the other defendant."

Her gaze drifted to the floor-to-ceiling windows of her office, taking in the bustling sights of Eldorria City under the clear blue sky. The world was still a beautiful place. Though it had taken some things from her, it also brought the most precious thing into her life. Dorothy's lips curved into a smile. Having Everett in her life made her suddenly lose all thoughts of giving up. She didn't want to end her life anymore.
