The CEO's Hidden Love: Midnight Temptations and Deep Desires novel Chapter 229

Heather paused as her gaze became distant for a few moments before she continued.

After a long silence, she sighed. Her tone was now filled with resignation. "I'm the black sheep. Without going to these lengths, I'd never be accepted into the Lopez family. I've done too much, so I can't let you steal Everett! If you're feeling bitter, I can give you back our father."

To her, Everett was the driving force behind all her efforts.

With him, she didn't need her biological father. He didn't matter to her at all.

"Keep him. I don't have a father." Dorothy nonchalantly uttered these words as she stood up to leave the hospital.

She didn't need him before, and she certainly didn't need him now.

She wouldn’t reconcile with Maxton in this lifetime, nor would she ever share sisterly affection with Heather.

If one day the truth came out that it was Heather who did all this, she would show no mercy.

Dorothy hailed a taxi and got in. She watched the landscape recede as her memories of Everett flashed before her eyes like a slideshow.

After arriving at Bay Residence, Dorothy didn't go in immediately. Instead, she took a deep breath, took out her phone, and called Karen.

"I've decided. I'm keeping the baby."

...

Everett didn't delay the wedding because he didn't want a divorce.

On the contrary, he had urged the wedding company several times to speed up.

He was afraid. Afraid that Dorothy couldn't wait and ended up insisting on divorcing him immediately.

When she received Everett's message, Dorothy was at the hospital with Karen for a prenatal check-up. While waiting for their turn, they sat on a bench outside the obstetrics and gynecology clinic.

To avoid leaving any traces, she used Karen's ID.

[The wedding is tomorrow.]

Dorothy's hand trembled involuntarily as she read the message.

Truthfully, she subconsciously hoped the wedding would be delayed, even just a little longer.

However, she also wanted to quickly settle everything and leave this place where she had nothing but heartache and trouble with her unborn child.
