Her eyes...
A bitter chuckle began tugging at the corners of Everett’s lips.
He came to Everglow City in hopes of forgetting Dorothy and starting over, yet the sight of a random child reminded him of her face.
His mother used to say he was obsessed, and now he was finally ready to admit it.
Before he knew it, the little girl had disappeared. He instinctively glanced around, but she was nowhere to be found.
"I'm losing it." He depressingly muttered to himself.
He had allowed himself to be captivated by a little girl of all things.
"Did you say something, Mr. Lopez?"
"No, let's head back to the hotel." Everett decided it might not be the best day to be out and about. It was best to go get some rest to avoid seeing her face in every passing stranger.
Though puzzled, the driver nodded obediently. After all, he could not afford to offend his employer.
"Alright, Mr. Lopez."
Everett turned and began to walk against the flow of the crowd.
The driver, dutiful as ever, began to speak of Everglow City's unique features and other hot spots. "Tomorrow, we can go hiking in the morning when it's not too hot. The view from the top is breathtaking. Then I can take you to a popular local restaurant for some succulent barbecue ribs in the afternoon. You'll love it."
Everett got into the car as he nodded in agreement.
He hadn't taken a break in years, so when he suddenly found himself with free time, he was at a loss. So, why not let the driver plan the day?
As the car pulled away from the bustling night market, the driver, more like a tour guide now, began to talk about the local customs, painting a picture of warm and friendly people.
Everett listened attentively while nodding every now and then.
Suddenly, his gaze fell on the driver's seat of a car next to theirs, and he froze, even his blood ran cold.
