The CEO's Hidden Love: Midnight Temptations and Deep Desires novel Chapter 291

Although Heather was unsure whether Everett had reconnected with Dorothy, she knew all too well the sway Dorothy had over him.

She hoped that whoever was by Everett's side was anyone but Dorothy.

Any other woman would be easier to deal with than Dorothy. It wasn't that Dorothy was particularly talented or powerful, but rather that Everett was deeply invested in and in love with her.

Heather was certain that Everett would never pour as much time and effort into another woman in his lifetime. So, as long as it was not Dorothy, she was not concerned.

After glancing at her wristwatch, she realized it was about time for her to leave.

Heather changed into a sharply tailored business suit that accentuated her aura of competence and authority. She was ready to return to Eldorria City and the Lopez Corporation. She had to assert her power and make it clear who the real winner was.

Inside the Lopez Corporation’s boardroom, Everett was engrossed in a project update from the investment department manager. His brow would furrow from time to time, signaling his dissatisfaction, which his assistant would promptly note.

Dressed in a custom-tailored black suit, he sat silently in the chair of honor, listening to the report. His silence caused a wave of fear among the team. They were scared of making any mistakes that might upset the CEO.

“Knock, knock.”

The sudden sound of knocking disrupted the silence in the boardroom.

“Come in.” Everett uttered his first words of the day.

The door swung open, revealing Kevin.

He walked straight over to Everett, leaned down, and whispered, “Your father has appointed Heather as the chief legal counsel of the Lopez Corporation. The HR department just received the notice, and Heather will be here to take up her post in half an hour.”

Everett's handsome face turned grim.
