Keira frowned. The sight of Chloe's carefree and confident expression irked her to no end.
Amelia also couldn't bear it, she moved to the couch and sat down.
"So, Chloe, heard you also joined Fragrance Frenzy, how many points did you score? What place did you get? Are you confident?"
The room full of people all turned their attention to the conversation.
"I won't go into the details about the points, as for my rank..."
She lifted her eyes, glanced at Amelia, and then said calmly, "I obviously have my own expectations."
"Pfft!" Amelia chuckled sarcastically, "So what if you have expectations? You're representing Spotlight Beauty, which is incomparable to the Olson Group! Keira might be the champion this time, and what does your higher rank even mean? Chloe, face it, you lost! You lost to Keira again!"
Amelia's last sentence was almost squeezed out between gritted teeth. It was always like this, she seemed to enjoy Chloe's embarrassments more than Keira did.
Chloe smirked, draining the water from her cup in one gulp.
"Who knows?"
Amelia was grinding her teeth in frustration at Chloe's nonchalant attitude. She was always hitting a brick wall with Chloe, or rather, felt like she was punching at cotton.
"I can't wait to see how embarrassed you'll be then! I hope you can still be this calm!"
"Amelia, enough..."
Keira suddenly interjected, her voice soft, with a hint of timidity and appeasement.
"Chloe, I'm sorry, we shouldn't have brought up this topic."
Chloe looked up at the few people in the room; their contemptuous and disgusted looks were all too clear. She scoffed, bent over to pick up the water jug and poured herself a cup of water.
"What is there to be sorry about, isn't this the reason you invited me here?"
Keira's face stiffened slightly, "What are you talking about... I didn't think of that..."
"Yeah, Chloe, it wasn't Keira who brought up the topic just now, but you shouldn't feel ashamed. After all, competition results aren't everything. If it’s not yours this time, just try harder next time..."
Lauretta interrupted at the right moment, clearly siding with Keira.
"Right, I also think it's no big deal. Winning and losing is just part and parcel of life. If you lose, you lose, it just means that's your current ability. But if you can't even lose with your own capability and resources, then it's really... just like muddling through, right?"
Chloe said to Lauretta, but her peripheral vision was on Keira.
Keira's face changed slightly, but only for an instant, and she quickly regained her confidence and calmness.
Chloe stared at Keira for two seconds, then shifted her gaze elsewhere.
Most people didn't understand what Chloe was saying, and didn't know how to continue the conversation.
"What are you guys talking about?"
At the staircase, Lance and a few older men came down together. Descending from the staircase, he exuded an air of nobility and warmth. It made sense how Chloe easily once loved Lance.
"Hello, Lance!" Keira stepped forward and greeted everyone politely, before coyly walking over to Lance with a shy face.
