Theo wrapped up his call, only to find Ellinor had walked in. "Not interested in the fireworks anymore? Don't like them?"
Ellinor took a seat beside him, casually saying, "No matter how beautiful the fireworks are, they're fleeting. Even the most stunning scenery can get tiresome after a while. I don't feel like watching anymore."
Theo squinted at her and pulled her into his arms. "Feeling down? Why the pessimism?"
He had been on the phone for quite a while, and Ellinor was slightly upset. "Did the person who saved your life want something from you again?"
Theo told her honestly, "The kid is sick. She asked me to come over."
Ellinor scoffed, "Then why aren't you there yet?"
Noticing her irritation, Theo explained, "I've already sent someone with a doctor. I'm no medic; what's the point of me going?"
Ellinor retorted, "Who said you can't heal?"
Theo raised an eyebrow, "Oh? What can I cure?"
Ellinor replied, "Ms. Howard's heartache! She gets better whenever she sees you."
Realizing she was teasing, Theo stopped smiling, looked at her seriously, and held her tighter. He gently stroked her hair, "I know this is on me. But I promise, from now on, I'll only ensure their safety and stay out of everything else."
Ellinor leaned on his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat. She felt at ease and a bit sleepy.
She mumbled, "I have a question, and I want an honest answer."
