A Second Chance at Forever (Eleanor and Bernard) novel Chapter 130

"You don’t like this soup?"

He put down the food in his hand, picked up another bowl, and brought it to her mouth again, gesturing with his eyes for her to open up.

It wasn't until the warm soup touched her lips that Eleanor came back to her senses from disbelief.

She didn't say anything, just blankly opened her mouth, and slowly eat the soup.

"Want some more?"

After feeding her a spoonful, Bernard picked up the bowl next to them, intending to continue feeding her.

Eleanor quickly shook her head: "I’m full."

Only then did Bernard put down the bowl and picked up a napkin to wipe the corners of her mouth.

He looked her up and down with a bland gaze, seemingly not pleased with her being too skinny, coldly asking, "How did you lose so much weight?"

When he held her, he felt that her waist had no fat, just hard bones.

He had noticed that she had lost a lot of weight before, but he didn't expect her to lose weight to this extent.

That tiny face was also sickly, and her eyes were even more lacking any luster.

After Eleanor knew his feelings for her, she didn't feel as touched by his care as before.

She lowered her eyes nonchalantly and replied faintly, "I lost weight for a friend's wedding."

Bernard knew about Hailey's existence and also knew that Eleanor had just attended her wedding recently, so he believed her.

He didn't ask any more questions, but instead reminded her, "Make sure to eat more after you recover."

Eleanor nodded gently, "Okay."

The two fell silent, and the atmosphere was a little awkward.
