A Second Chance at Forever (Eleanor and Bernard) novel Chapter 625

Blake wanted to speak, but Trey didn't give him a chance and just kept going: "How many times has Bernard told you, Eleanor is his life. You know he's tried to take his life many times because of her. Are you really going to tear them apart because of your stubborn views and push him back to the edge?

“Your eldest son, your wrong decision back then cost him his life. Are you going to do the same to Bernard now? That’s like making sure he has no descendants, isn’t it?

“And let's not forget, no one in the Laurence family can step up to the plate, only Bernard can lead us to make the Laurence family stronger. If you let him die over this wedding stuff, then the Laurence family is really toast!"

After finishing, Trey grabbed Blake's pants leg and said, "Dad, you've been thinking about this for so many years, don't you get it yet?"

Blake pushed his hand away and yelled, "Scram! Do you think I need you to remind me of these things? Don’t I understand?"

Trey shot back, "You obviously don’t, that's why you're so damn stubborn," and got a slap from Blake!

Luckily, Trey was quick to dodge, which pissed off Blake enough to almost jump out of bed and give him a good beating.

Trey leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, looking at Blake and said, "Dad, you didn't let us brothers meddle in Donna's affairs back then, and we listened to you. I still feel guilty towards Bernard, don't you?"

That hit a nerve for Blake, and his hand that was about to grab a pillow and smack Trey slowly dropped: "Of course I feel guilty, that's why I handed over the whole Laurence Group to him to manage these years..."

Trey didn't want to expose Blake's intentions of using Bernard to expand the Laurence Group, he just casually said: "If you feel guilty about him, then let him get married as a compensation, I believe Bernard will be grateful.

“This way, not only can the Laurence Group continue to grow, but he can also marry the love of his life, maybe it’ll patch things up between you two, wouldn’t it be nice for the family to be happy and harmonious?
