Blake's next words came out as a roar, showing just how much he despised the Pine family. But Eleanor was so innocent. She had never even met the elders of the Pine family, yet she was the first to face the family's hatred.
"Blake, I get your pain and I sympathize with all that you guys have been through, but this has nothing to do with me, I haven't..."
She wanted to say that she wasn't part of it, but suddenly, Blake's cane came crashing down towards her. He moved so fast that Eleanor couldn't dodge in time and her small arm took the full force of the blow. The old man tried to swing again, but before his cane could land, it was caught by a hand.
Scott snatched the cane away, rested it on his knee and snapped it in half.
"I'm here, anyone who tries to bully ma’am will have to go through me first!"
Scott had thought that Blake, at least, was a reasonable old man, but he was shocked to see him lose his rationality and lash out at Eleanor.
Caught off guard, Scott was a step too late when Blake swung the first time, leaving Eleanor to bear the brunt.
After glaring at the old man, Scott turned to Eleanor.
"Are you okay?"
The pain from the hard object striking flesh indeed hurt a lot, but Eleanor bravely shook her head.
