“This is impossible. It must be fake. That person must be impersonating him.” As Desmond spoke, he got to his feet and walked out of the building. However, he did not dare to reveal himself right away.
Desmond wanted to make sure if the visitor was actually Jared. If it were really the latter, then he would have to come up with a plan.
Desmond took a peep outside when he arrived at the door. Meanwhile, Jared was standing right in front of the door, frowning. “What's up with Desmond? Why is he dilly-dallying when he already knows I'm here?” he mumbled under his breath.
Jared had already announced his arrival long ago, but he was still not granted entry. All that made his temper flare.
Losing his patience, he released his spiritual sense and immediately detected Desmond, who was spying on him.
Jared was confused by the discovery. He could not understand why Desmond was secretly observing him instead of letting him in when the latter already knew about his arrival.
Could this punk have done something wrong?
At the same time, Desmond's legs went weak, and his forehead was covered with sweat as soon as he confirmed it was Jared standing in front of the door.
Noting Desmond's odd behavior, the disciple called out softly, “Lord Cowper...”
“Bring Mr. Chance in. And don't tell him I already know about his arrival,” informed Desmond.
The disciple nodded and left. Meanwhile, Desmond quickly returned to the hall and took several deep breaths.
Feeling it was about time for him to head out, Desmond marched toward the exit. Coincidentally, Jared had stepped into the hall.
Desmond said politely, “Mr. Chance! I was about to go out to welcome you. I didn't expect you to have entered. Please, have a seat.”
Desmond poured Jared a cup of coffee. After all, the former had witnessed Jared's capabilities with his own eyes in the past.
Jared eyed Desmond coldly without blinking, sending chills down the latter's spine. Even beads of sweat were trickling from his forehead.
