“Forget it. I should start working at the company. There's nothing more reliable than wealth in this world,” Caiden sighed as he returned.
He was right indeed. Other than feelings and affection, there were still many other important things that mattered in life such as career and family. Caiden was fortunate to have realized that.
Besides, it wasn't true love and affection between him and Joan. It was merely his onesided and sickening possessiveness that was driving him to such a state.
“Alright, I understood. I'll make the necessary arrangements, and you can return to the company directly tomorrow,” Jaden responded.
What arrangements are there to make? Piqued,
Caiden gazed at him with a bewildered look.
“I've been working in your father's company,” Jaden clarified.
It was just that he had never told Caiden about it. The two of them chatted for a little longer at the roadside before getting straight home.
At that moment, Joan was lying in the bedroom with her eyes widened, thinking about the man she loved.
When is he coming back?Does he eat well over there? What if he gets sick?
In that instance, Larry's face was all that was in her mind.
“Joan, do you want some fruits?” Delilah was shouting outside her door.
“No!” She responded immediately.
“What's happening? Why are you so moody?” Delilah opened the door and asked softly as she munched on another slice of apple.
“Nothing, it's just a sleepless night for me. I couldn't sleep,” answered Joan wearily.
“What time is it? It's not even nine yet. What sleepless night are you talking about? You're missing somebody, aren't you?” Delilah asked nosily on purpose.
“Ms. Young, since when did you turn so whimsical?”
“Fine, don't think too much about it, alright? He's just on a business trip. What are you doing thinking so much? You're making yourself sound like an old bat.”
Out of the blue, her phone on the table started ringing. Looking at the caller ID, Joan answered it immediately as she turned on the speaker mode.
Seeing as such, Delilah knew who was on the phone at once, so she left the room in silence.
“Are you at home?” Larry asked.
“I'm lying in bed. It's too cold outside; I don't feel like going out,” Joan answered.
