Dustin felt conflicted as he stared at her, confused.
"What's wrong? Do you have something to confess to me?" Abelyn asked, patting him gently on his shoulder.
After a brief hesitation, Dustin finally decided to clear his doubts. He carefully asked, "Abelyn, is there really nothing going on between you and Joan?"
What?ls he suspecting me too? Abelyn gave him an icy glare. Da*n you, Dustin. Have you never trusted me all this while? As my boyfriend, shouldn't you believe me unconditionally? Instead, how can you suspect me just like the others? Furthermore, even if I was in the wrong, there is more reason for you to protect me. The last thing you should be doing is to question me!
"Dustin, what do you mean by that? What else can there be between Joan and me? Isn't she already warded after what happened? I just went to see her for a while. So what about it? Do you have a problem with that?" Abelyn pressured him in return.
"No, no problem at all. It was just a casual question. Don't read too much into it," Dustin replied at once.
How can I not read too much into it?Your tone was filled with suspicion!
"If there's nothing else, I got to go now." With that, Abelyn turned and went upstairs.
Watching her leave, Dustin felt inexplicably nervous as he too was afraid. He was scared that she would do something impulsive behind his back.
Turning around, he grabbed his jacket from the sofa and headed out.
"What? Did you hear Abelyn's voice? Are you sure, Joan? Do you have any recordings?" Jessica exclaimed in shock.
What recording?Given the condition I was in, how do you even expect me to do that? Nevertheless, she felt fortunate to have at least known the truth.
However, it didn't stop the truth from hurting.
