Deep in her heart, Evelyn was delighted after hearing Finnick's promise to her. But she feigned a troubled look and bit her lip as she looked at Finnick.
"Do... do you mean that, Finnick? Are you really willing to do anything for me?"
"Yes." Finnick nodded. Once again, he pledged to her. "Anything you want, Evelyn. I promise I'll do my best."
Finnick thought to himself. I've ruined the life of a young and beautiful girl. I have to agree to anything that she asks for.
With tears in her eyes, Evelyn said miserably, "Benedict kicked me out of Morrison residence after he found out that I'm not his biological sister. And now that I'm crippled, I really don't know how
I'm going to cope by myself. What am I going to do now?”
Finnick appeared distressed when he thought of Evelyn's current situation. He was a few years older than her, and they practically grew up together. Furthermore, she was his puppy love. Although their romantic relationship had turned into a platonic friendship, he still cared about Evelyn very much.
"It's okay, don't worry. You have me. I'll take care of you." Finnick comforted Evelyn.
There was a flash of joy in Evelyn's eyes when she finally heard Finnick said the thing she's been wanting to hear. Finnick did not notice her momentary joy because her head was bowed.
"Okay." Evelyn cried and nodded, and then she threw herself into Finnick's arms.
"You're the only person I can depend on now, Finnick. You must never leave my side. I really love you. Promise me that you'll stay by my side forever? We'll just be like how we were ten years ago. Didn't you promise me ten years ago that we'll be together forever?"
