“Mother?” She pushes the door open to see her mother staring straight into her soul, her lips stretch into a smile as she casually walks into the room, closing the door behind her, “good morning.”
“Good morning to you too Arcadia, If you’re here to get your birthday gift then please walk out the door and go disturb your father.” She replies like a modern day customer care service recording and this makes Arcadia burst into a fit of laughter,-
“You know father would say the same thing and I haven’t seen him all day, and since I’m here now I guess it’s best I trouble you for it.” She sways majestically, “give me a hint mother…..what would it be? What could it possibly be?” She hugs the Queen from behind while swaying her gently, “would you give me a riddle to solve just to get it out of you?” She tickles her sides and her mother reacts.
“Calm yourself princess!!” She coughs loudly as a nasty blush crept up her lips, she hated being tickled, “I won’t give you a riddle because it would be too easy for you to solve.” She adjusts her hair and goes for the door. Arcadia simply follows her as she skips.
“But you can’t hide it away from me forever you know?” She wants to tickle her again but she protests with a simple hand gesture,
“Touch me and you would be sleeping outside.” She threatens but this didn’t even seem to cause the slightest worry to Arcadia, “I can’t hide it forever, your birthday is in two days, just wait till then.” She gives a logical reason and smirks at her brilliance.
“But I want it now.” Arcadia demands and the smirk is wiped off Queen Octavia’s face, “can’t you do this much for me mother?” She pulls her infamous puppy eyes with that cute dog whimper but Octavia is harder than stone.
“Wait till then, I’m done discussing this matter, there are more important things.” She clears her throat, “I’ve been hearing rumors, you’ve been skipping classes with Xerxes, and I’ve confirmed it myself.” Her death glare made Arcadia sweat a thousand bullets.
“I think father is calling me mother, I would just—” she tries to bail but Octavia grabs her by the loose strands of her hair that she could never manage by herself, “you’re hurting me mother!!” She whimpers loudly as she held her scalp in pain,
“And you’re disobeying me. You’re royalty and you need to act like it, you need to learn to defend yourself, what if a war breaks out? How will you protect yourself and your land?” She chastised out of affection, images of her dream flashing before her eyes, “I can’t be there to protect you all the time, it’s only a matter before I die and—”
“Why did you change the topic? You’re nagging me not talking about your death!! You’re not dying anytime soon!!” She screams back at her mother with the same amount of tempo. Octavia’s nerve cracks.
“And how dare you raise your voice at me?!” She bites back.
