It was also because of him that the also-imprisoned second Mccarthy elder was completely stripped down and searched inch by inch. All his charms, bugs and amulets were taken from him, and he was shaved completely. All the places that he could possibly hide his insects in were ransacked as well.

At last, Steward and the second Mccarthy elder both had an amulet stuck on them each. They cried out in agony, but by the time the amulet had burned out they were completely powerless.

Their gazes flashed with resentment and rage.

Where had the cops gotten these amulets, powerful enough to take out all the parasites they had been hiding and destroying all their insects.
