Inside the black Rolls-Royce, Joey hung up a call and turned to Elijah.

“Boss, Mike just called to invite me to join them for dinner at the hotel,” Joey said hesitantly, “Would you like to come?”

Elijah’s expression darkened. “They didn’t invite me. Why should I go?”

Feeling embarrassed, Joey added, “I heard Violette tried to call you this morning, but couldn’t reach you. Maybe you should meet and talk things over? Despite her dazzling smile on her live stream tonight, Mike said she’s actually quite upset. I suspect she dressed up like this just to get under your skin.”

Elijah’s dark eyes brimmed with icy menace. “How do you know she didn’t dress like this for Kylee’s benefit?”

Mike replied, “The air conditioning is a bit chilly though.”

“I’m not cold.” Violette placed her palm on his hand, letting him feel her temperature. “Pregnant women tend to feel warm.”

“Alright! A few journalists asked me earlier. They’re quite interested in the father of your child.” Mike massaged his temples. “The number of viewers tonight exceeded my expectations... By tomorrow, practically everyone online will know about your pregnancy.”

Violette had considered this outcome, but she wasn’t afraid.

“Being pregnant is nothing to be ashamed of. It won’t matter if people know it.”

“But you’re not married!” Mike pointed out the crux. “People are particularly curious about the father of your child.”

Violette shrugged. “That’s their concern, not mine. I won’t let others influence my life.”

“Oh... so you’re not afraid that people will find out that Elijah is the father?” Mike uncapped a bottle of mineral water, handing it to her.
