Eden passed out in his arms sometime after midnight, but Liam was wide awake, his mind racing, thinking about their fight.
As he listened to her snore peacefully beside him, he was grateful their night had ended with her in his bed. It could have easily gone the other way since they were both determined to hurt each other earlier.
He tightened his hold around her now when he remembered her anger and hurt at seeing him with Laura.
He told her plenty of times his ex was as inconsequential as that lawyer dude, but for some reason, Eden refused to believe him, and he didn't know how else to make her see she was the only woman for him.
One thing was certain, though. He had to handle Laura fast. There couldn't be any more misunderstandings between them.
Eden shifted restlessly, breaking through his chaotic thoughts as she tried to get comfortable.
"Liam, why are you still awake?" She mumbled sleepily and pushed her bare ass close to him, and it didn't take long at all before he was rock hard, and he desperately wanted her again.
"I told you sleep is overrated, Princess," he kissed her neck and caressed her body, and she purred when he hitched up her leg at an angle and opened her up, feeling her with his fingers.
He never thought it was possible, but he grew harder when he found her wet and ready for him.
"Didn't you have enough?" Eden moaned, making the most delicious sounds when he drove into her slowly.
"I'll never have enough of you," he whispered in her hair as he thrust in and out of her, holding on to her pert breasts. She felt so perfectly tight as he fucked her slowly at first but gradually increased his tempo, relishing the feel of her body in his arms.
And for the longest time, his grunts and her whimpers were the only sounds punctuating the still night silence as they brought each other pleasure again.
Hours later, when Liam opened his eyes again, Eden sat on the edge of the bed, hurriedly throwing on her clothes.
"What's going on?" He asked groggily.
"I have to go," she said.
He checked the time on his phone and groaned.
2:45 AM.
Ordinarily, he'd be getting up in thirty minutes or so to start his day. But today, deliriously spent and blissfully numb from their lovemaking, Liam didn't understand why they were awake at such an ungodly hour.
They should be snuggling, and he should be spooning her.
"It's late, come back to bed, and I'll drive you home in the morning," he offered, scratching his head, confused as fuck by this sudden turn of events.
Eden wasn't having any of it, though. "You go back to bed. I'll call an Uber."
Liam sighed, his irritation levels at her stubbornness creeping up at unprecedented speeds.
He'd hoped to have a lazy start to his day with her in his arms and maybe some breakfast and dessert in bed. But Eden seemed very eager to run away from him.
Again.
"Come on," Liam tried again to change her mind. "Look at the time; it's late. Just come back to bed already!"
Eden was adamant about heading home, though, as she bit her bottom lip, a thoughtful look in her eye. "I have to be home when Aiden wakes up."
He got that, and he loved her even more for always thinking about her son first, but a part of him couldn't help but worry.
"Is everything okay? Are we okay?" He asked even though he wasn't sure he'd like her response. But, he had to know if their night was as breathtaking for her as it was for him.
Sure, he'd managed to make love to her without messing up, and he thought their encounter was phenomenal. But maybe Eden didn't feel the same way, and maybe that's why she wanted to get the hell out of his place like the devil himself was chasing after her.
So he stilled himself for her response, his anxiety mounting the longer she remained silent.
"Eden?" He prodded her as he sat up, hating how emotionally raw and vulnerable he felt.
He'd never felt so unsure about anything or anyone in his life.
