To Peter Pan, Jiang Yao was the apple of his eye. He would give up anything for her—even if it meant sacrificing his own life.
Jiang Ning gave Peter Pan a cursory glance. He knew that Peter Pan cherished Jiang Yao deeply, but there were things that were beyond Peter Pan's understanding.
The scene shown on the water screen was a prophecy, which meant it was bound to happen. When the day comes, who will be there to protect Jiang Yao?
The grim answer was “no one.” It was not limited to Jiang Yao alone. When disaster struck, everyone could only fend forthemselves, Jiang Ning included. In the end, the evil within each person would take control of their being, thus creating a society of heartless creatures.
It would be a tragedy.
“Things are progressing beyond your imagination, and because of this change, we have to change as well,” Jiang Ning stated ambiguously.
“What do you mean?” Peter Pan had a sense of foreboding. “What exactly do you mean? What happened when you were at the Heavenly Palace?” he prompted.
“We might have underestimated the Demon King's power. He has been biding for time. We thought that he was waiting for Greedy Wolf, but I'm afraid that we were mistaken. It's the twin iris that he's aiming for.”
Jiang Ningtook a deep breath.
“So what? I don't care what he has! If he hurts me or my loved ones, I'll fight him!”
Peter Pan had always been a gutsy one.
He had a one-track mind, and that was to protect Jiang Yao, his precious disciple. Everything else could turn to dust for all he cared.
“Don't get so worked up. When the day comes, it'll be the end for all of us. How are you going to protect Jiang Yao? You'll be in grave danger yourself. How would you keep her safe? You'll have to at least be alive to do so!” Jiang Ning countered.
Peter Pan calmed down slightly upon hearing his words.
“Tell me, then. What is it like now? What has gotten you so worried?”
