Bride Behind the Mask novel Chapter 798

Silas certainly wanted to say, "All my woes today, I owe to you!"

But when he caught sight of Marguerite's innocent face tinged with concern, he found himself speechless.

He dropped his gaze and offered a soft explanation, "Headache."

"Do you get them often?"

"Not really, just more frequent lately. Margot suggested I keep some painkillers on hand."

"Margot?"

Silas smirked meaningfully and added as he looked at her, "My daughter."

Marguerite was speechless!

She still hadn't gotten used to Silas calling his daughter by name in front of her.

After all, their names both contained the sound "Marg."

Marguerite always felt like Silas was calling her, and somewhat boldly taking liberties in terms of seniority.

But she had no proof of it.

After she took the medicine, Silas noticed her gloom and offered comfort, "Alright, I won't tease you next time. If it bothers you, I could even rename my daughter."

How did he know what she was thinking?

Was it that all these big shots had the knack to read minds? Because of their cunning, they always seemed to hit the nail on the head when it came to others' thoughts.

Silas was like this, and Frederick even more so.

Marguerite stopped pondering and told Silas, "Thanks for looking after me, I feel much better. Don't forget to lock the door on your way out. Going to sleep now."

The man crossed his arms, watching her leisurely, "Oh? Kick me out after I've served my purpose? Is this how you treat your guests?"

Marguerite was on the verge of tears, "What do you want then?"

He had come over to play the good Samaritan without being asked.

But why did it seem like this legendary figure wasn't busy at all? Having time to deliver medicine, and even time to showcase his culinary skills in her kitchen?

Silas genuinely didn't know how to respond to Marguerite's question, simply pushing her gently into the room by her shoulders.

"Alright, get some sleep."

Marguerite turned to ask him, "You're not leaving?"

The man's pupils dilated slightly, "In a bit."

By that, he didn't seem to plan on leaving immediately?

Marguerite couldn't understand what attraction her empty apartment held for him, but if he wanted to stay, she couldn't really object.

After all, he had just taken care of her, and she had no reason to be ungrateful.

Marguerite snuggled back into her blankets, soon hearing the pitter-patter of raindrops from the balcony.
