It was already dark when Jasper and Alyssa walked out of the prison entrance after meeting with Jeffrey. 

Even though it was already spring, the morning and evening breezes in Solana City were still quite cool. 

Jasper removed his coat and put it on Alyssa. Then, he put his arm around her shoulders and pulled her close. 

They stood in the night, listening to the sound of rustling leaves in the wind. They held calm expressions on their faces, but deep down, waves of restlessness surged. 

After a long time, Alyssa finally said, “He admitted it.’

Jasper’s hand was still on her shoulder. His uneasiness finally simmered down, and he said, “Everything is about to come to an end.

“But, Inigo is not working for Sophia. His statement isn’t going to be very helpful in Jeffrey’s case.” 

Alyssa looked up at him with a serious look on her face. “But he 

almost took yours and Jonah’s lives! Even if he has nothing to do with 

Sophia, there’s no way I will let him go!” 

There was also the one who instigated everything from behind. 

However, she had no witnesses or evidence to testify against. Jameson. Everything was mere speculation.

After keeping silent for a while, Jasper slowly said, “Lyse, I don’t want 

you to be involved in the matter regarding Inigo. Landon and I can handle it. 

“You’ve been tiring yourself out with my injury and the matter. surrounding Sophia. Leave the rest to me.” 

“Are you really afraid that I’d tire myself out, Jasper? Or, is it because Jameson is the mastermind, so you’re worried that I’d be put in an awkward position because of my past relationship with him, so you’re telling me not to get involved? 

“Is that why you didn’t want me to participate in this? Is it because you don’t want me to feel uncomfortable?” 

Jasper pursed his lips. His silence was her confirmation. 

“Aren’t you overthinking it?” 

Alyssa frowned and poked him softly on his chest with her finger. Plus, Jameson and I were just friends in the past. It’s not like what you’re thinking. Even if it were, his actions are unforgivable. I will not be soft-hearted, let alone back out.” 

“What if all the evidence shows that Inigo had nothing to do with Jameson? What if I was the one who speculated wrongly?” Jasper asked in a dry and raspy voice. 

“I still can’t forgive him. After all, in Kontina, he did so many ridiculous things against Miley and Jeremy. Jeremy almost got screwed over! Would I even be a human if I were to pretend that none of that 

happened?” 

The thought of the hardship that Miley and Jeremy had to go through these years enraged Alyssa. She clenched her fists tightly. 

Jameson was the one who poked the bear. 

And her trigger was her family, as well as Jasper. 

Jasper’s stomach was twisted in knots. “I’ve also wronged you in so many ways. Why did you forgive me?” Jasper couldn’t help but ask.
