Chapter 121
Landon was frightened by the callous look in Jasper’s eyes.
Jasper had never been more incensed–not even when Linna left him and traveled abroad.
Landon was merely joking, which was characteristic of him–wealthy but indiscreet, even more so
in front of his good friends.
He never thought that he’d cross a line by making a joke. It confirmed that the topic of Jasper’s ex-
wife was taboo.
The bartender paled at the sight. Not many in Solana City had the guts to grab Landon Harper by
his collar.
“Jasper, have you … fallen for Alice?” Landon had sobered up, and he was drenched in cold sweat.
“Haven’t you noticed that you’ve been acting funny since the divorce?” Landon cast a deep look at
him. “I’m your only friend from childhood. Aren’t you going to tell me the truth?”
“I don’t love her,” Jasper growled.
“Fine, got it. I’ll take your word for it.
“Landon Harper!”
Landon ignored Jasper’s wrath and added, “Jasper, I’ll repeat myself. If you have fallen for Alice
and wish to get back with her, you have my full support.”
He continued, “If you are only acting out because you couldn’t stand seeing your ex–wife with
another man, I hope you’ll allow me to take my shot. That’s because I know what my heart wants-
I love Alice and want to pursue her.”
Feeling as though he was shot in the chest, Jasper let go of Landon’s collar and stumbled
backward. Landon stood up straight and breathed deeply to calm himself down as he pulled the
blue diamond necklace from his pocket.
“She…” Jasper was stunned.
“She refused my gift.” Smiling bitterly, Landon explained, “Alice isn’t what you think she is. She’s
not a materialistic woman. She returned the necklace to me after we left.”
He lamented, “Gosh, Mr. Jasper, how have you been treating Alice in the past? She saw you as her
archenemy and grabbed at any opportunity to irk you. It’s not an overstatement to describe
her mortal enemy.”
