Cupid's Arrow Hit On Me novel (Serenity and Zachary) novel Chapter 1771

Since an elevator was needed to move between floors, Liberty believed the security detail was not needed. Liberty pushed Duncan into the elevator to get upstairs.

Duncan still could not walk on his own, and Liberty was only taking him out for a stroll. Otherwise, Duncan would be cranky to lie in bed all day.

Despite another month-long stay in the hospital, Duncan still could not stand on his feet, and it fueled his bad temper. He got the feeling that he might never walk again. For this reason, Duncan wanted to drive Liberty away more than ever. He did not want Liberty to look after him.

He even offered six hundred thousand dollars to Liberty every month so that she would not hang around him.

Duncan felt bad to see the tired state Liberty was in. Liberty lost a lot of weight after taking care of him for a little over a month. There was no telling when he would ever get better. At this rate, Liberty would become skin and bones just caring for him. He simply could not bear to see her like this.

In the last two days, Duncan sat in the wheelchair while Liberty pushed him downstairs for some fresh air in an open space at the front of the hospital. The change of scenery mellowed Duncan down.

Liberty pushed Duncan and headed to the elevator.

Once near the elevator, the doors happened to open, and out walked Mr. and Mrs. Lewis. Seeing that Liberty was with her son, Mrs. Lewis drew close.

“Liberty, is Duncan going for a check-up?”

Mrs. Lewis carried two food containers, and Mr. Lewis came bearing some bags too. They brought food for Duncan and Liberty.

Liberty’s weight loss did not go unnoticed. Feeling bad and sorry, Mrs. Lewis paid Liberty three hundred thousand dollars at the end of the month, but Liberty refused to accept the payment. She said that she owed it to Duncan.

Nevertheless, the women carried on with their act to trick Duncan into thinking Liberty was hired to take care of him. Despite his efforts to chase Liberty away, Liberty would insist that she was here for the money, and Duncan could do nothing about it.

He wanted to force Liberty out, but since Duncan could not get up, he could only get rid of Liberty with his death stares. Alas, Liberty was not intimidated one bit, and it only made Duncan resent the fact that he could not walk.

“Don’t worry, Mrs. Lewis. There’s no check-up. Mr. Lewis is feeling down, so I thought I should take him downstairs for a stroll.”
