Hearing Liberty’s rebuttal, Mrs. Brown opened her mouth to say something but could not speak.
After all, Mrs. Brown was the one who suggested that her son split the household expenses with her daughter-in-law. She knew that even without splitting it, her daughter-in-law had no control over her son’s money.
“Mom, let’s go.”
Chelsea was displeased with Liberty’s attitude and refused to let her mother waste another breath. She dragged her mother away and glanced at the things Serenity and Jasmine bought for Liberty on the way out.
As they arrived downstairs, Chelsea said to her mother, “Mom, you mentioned Serenity’s husband works in a large company, right? Does he have a high income? Since Serenity married him, her every visit came with lots of gifts. I glanced at the bags and saw all those fruits she bought were very expensive.
“They’re all imported and pricey fruits like durians and cherries. A durian costs at least two hundred dollars and a pound of cherries cost tens of dollars.”
Mrs. Brown said, “Think about your brother’s income. Serenity’s husband works for York Corporation, which is the largest company in Wiltspoon. Your brother said that the people who work there are top talents in the country.
“Your brother also said that he might not even qualify to work in York Corporation. This shows how capable Serenity’s husband is. So, his income can only be higher than your brother’s. Serenity has always been very kind to her sister and will help her now that Hank doesn’t spend money on Liberty.
“Now, Serenity and Mr. York are newlyweds, so Mr. York is naturally willing to spend money on her. But if she keeps helping her sister and spends all her money on her sister, Mr. York will probably feel uncomfortable about it. No one will want their wife to spend money on her sister’s family.”
Mrs. Brown said sinisterly, “Just wait and see. Serenity will be dumped by her husband soon because no one is willing to support such a prodigal woman. After we get home, tell Hank not to give Liberty any more money. Just ask Liberty to get money from her sister. That way, Serenity will lose her husband’s favor.
“By then, can she still act so arrogantly? Although she owns a bookstore, she’s only a partner, so how much can she make after splitting the profits? Liberty is tough now because she thinks Serenity can support her. She’ll only cry after realizing that she implicated her sister.”
