Maja had been waiting for another ten minutes, but Zoey still refused to come out.

With no other options, she had to leave.

Getting back into her car, the warmth inside eased the irritation she felt from the cold.

Instead of heading back to the office, Maja decided to meet up with Elvis.

But Elvis wasn't fully clued in on all the drama surrounding Zoey; all he was aware of was the big fallout she had with Mia.

Maja was sharp as a tack. She immediately tried calling Mia, but her number had been disconnected. Clearly, the Haskins family didn't want Mia to be reachable, which was suspicious.

"Beck, take me to Fitch," she ordered.

Beck might not have been the sharpest tool in the shed, but even he could guess out that this mess had something to do with Fitch.

Now, with all the people Zoey cared about gone, there was no family of her own, and the only person left who mattered to her was Fitch.

If she really was taking the fall for someone, and it was for a spoiled brat like Mia, then only Fitch could have persuaded her.

Maja blinked, wishing she could storm over right this second.

As he opened the door and saw Maja, his eyelashes fluttered in surprise – he hadn't expected her to return from abroad.
