She couldn't fathom what was going on in Felix's mind. Last night he had been so furious, but after their intense encounter in bed, he seemed to have dropped any lingering resentment.

Staring at the ceiling, she felt at a loss about his mood now.

Felix had been swamped with work recently, and today was the first time in ages he'd slept in.

Carol felt an inexplicable irritation brewing. She reached for her phone, intending to text Listina.

What on earth had happened last night? Why hadn't Listina caught the person?

If Felix had really been smitten with Listina, he wouldn't have been so rough with her in the latter part of the night.

But her screen quickly showed that the message had been sent, but was rejected.

Listina had deleted her. Perhaps not of her own volition, but at Felix's behest.

Undeterred, Carol sent another text, but it was like casting stones into the abyss—perhaps all ties with Listina had been severed.

Suddenly, she remembered the camera she had set up the night before, hoping to catch something between Felix and Listina. Now, it had only recorded her own escapades.

She glanced towards where she had placed the device, finding nothing but empty space. Someone had taken it.

It must have been Felix. She turned her gaze to the face before her.

He seemed to be sleeping soundly, as if he was uninterested in keeping score.

Around two in the afternoon, Felix finally rolled out of bed.

Carol turned her back to him, pretending not to notice his movements.

After freshening up and donning his suit, Felix approached her and glanced at her face.

She was clearly awake, just feigning sleep.

Without calling her out on it, he merely reached out and gently patted her head.

Carol found his behavior odd, too odd.

As she pondered his actions, she heard him say, “The wedding is in five days. I'm going to check out the venue this afternoon, and you can relax at home.”

Her body stiffened; she had hoped that last night's incident would quash his desire to get married.
